Regulatory aspects of the gender issue in sports

Abstract

On the field of sport, there is a very marked gender gap, as evidenced in this paper. The normative instruments that we could use to achieve a better situation of women in sport in different fields are analyzed here. Considering international, European and state law. The position of the Constitutional Court in relation to discrimination is studied to determine which options the public powers have with the aim of being able to act and reduce inequality between men and women in this ambit. We conclude that a specific regulation on sport and equality is necessary as a framework tool. Finally, sports federations, as the main axis of sports activities, must take the impulse to carry out concrete actions aimed at achieving a greater degree of equality in sport.
