El túmulo de Felipe IV y la rebeldía del arquitecto Juan de Bolialdea

Abstract

El contencioso gira en torno a un túmulo funerario erigido en la Casa de Juntas de Gernika (ermita de Nuestra Señora de la Antigua), para celebrar las solemnes exequias de Felipe IV, y a un arquitecto frustrado, ofendido y agraviado, que reaccionó violentamente contra lo que entendió como la fuente de un acoso y un deshonor. El propio relato de los hechos se convierte en documento de interés por las noticias que arroja acerca de ese género arquitectónico de los túmulos, que ha dejado amplia memoria en los círculos que podíamos llamar cortesanos (Madrid, Sevilla, Zaragoza, Valladolid), pero muy pocas referencias en el País Vasco.
