Spanish provincial division: History, Evolution and Current status

Abstract

This article provides an overview of the origins and evolution of the province as a territorial division mechanism in our country arguing for a new map according to the political, economic and social development of the XXI century Spain, in light of the recent report of the CORA and the subsequent legislation passed to implement it.
